Before you begin
VoiceStage requires an iPhone running iOS 16 or later and an active internet connection. Install the latest available version of VoiceStage before troubleshooting an issue.
- Keep VoiceStage open while joining or performing.
- Use a stable Wi-Fi or cellular connection.
- For performances, connect headphones when possible to reduce echo.
Microphone access
Actors need microphone access to complete the audio check, publish live audio, and record their part after giving recording consent. Audience members do not need to publish microphone audio.
- Open the iPhone Settings app.
- Choose Privacy & Security, then Microphone.
- Turn on access for VoiceStage, then return to the app.
If VoiceStage is not listed, return to the app and begin the actor audio check to display the system permission request.
Audio and connection
If you cannot hear the stage or other actors cannot hear you, check the active audio route and connection before rejoining.
- Raise the device media volume and confirm audio is not routed to an unintended Bluetooth device.
- Disconnect and reconnect wired or Bluetooth headphones if the route shown in VoiceStage is incorrect.
- Move to a more stable network if the stage is repeatedly reconnecting.
- After changing microphone permission in Settings, close and reopen VoiceStage before trying again.
Using a Performance ID
A Performance ID identifies one VoiceStage session. The first actor can copy the ID from VoiceStage and share it directly with the other actor or listener. Enter the complete ID exactly as shown.
A Performance ID is not a password, but it should only be shared with the people invited to that performance.
